you are exactly right with your comments "My thoughts are with those tens of
thousands of people who were told to evacuate, but not provided with
transportation to do so. That some of them
are behaving in ways unworthy of a civilized society is no more appalling
than the way that society has behaved toward them."

Someone said about winter coming. Fortunately, cold weather is not until
november or later. the heat is bad and will worsen disease. The nicu babies
are often w/o their moms. so many women in n.o. just normally don't have
reliabel transportation and so it is not at all unusual and in fact the norm
for babies to be w/o their moms in nicus. these poor moms and seeing their
babies go far away and not sure they will survive. hear they are hand
ventilating many patients. the nurses that stayed behind, and doctors, are
their for days and what provisions for any of them?

i can't begin to realize the ripple effect (tidal wave effect) this will
have on everything. i heard yesterday they ordered 3000 body bags for my
parish. can't confirm this. many more will die i fear.

The person that posted who worked directly with relactation after one
hurricane please try to contact someone in baton rouge La health dept or
fema or someone - did any nat'l orgs work with you - and send your post
showing your personal and prof. exp. wtih the process. so maybe they will
begin to utilize relact.
