For any of you who remember my case of obsessive weights and measures, and insistence on my teaching her the use of the SNS (which she didn't buy in the end) I called her yesterday.
As I had suspected, she just could not be happy with weighing the baby JUST once a day, so the use of the bottles and neosure have again increased. As you may also recall, we had ditched the silicon shield - with no problem whatsoever, and she admitted that that was "nice".
However, she went back to using it because it enabled her to "see" the milk coming out of the breast. The unsupportive husband, (after suggesting he read all the supportive material in which he has no interest) has put conditions on allowing her to bf. And she is still very keen on giving up the neosure because it seems that the baby may have "reflux"!)^%#$@@!!!!!! I subtly suggested that rather than look for another formula, as hinted to by her MD's, (I highlight the word SUBTLY - because although I wanted to shake her and scream it!!!!!!! I didn't) TRY GETTING OFF THE ABM AND GIVE ONLY BM!! sO, the moral of this story, "You can lead the baby to the breast and breastmilk but you can't make the mom bf." We do the best we can. I think I was very well behaved considering the frustration. guess this comes with 20+ years!!
