One of the Public Health nurses has a case of an infant of a breastfeeding
mother on Methodone therapy being diagnosed with rickets. The referral
states that rickets were caused by the methodone therapy. Nurse states
that dosage is "quite significant". Child is now one year old. I have
found no reference of this in Hale, Lawrence or Riordan. Rickets seem to
be diagnosed strictly as a result of inadequate vitamin D ingestion. Has
anyone heard of this side effect of Methodone??
