Becky,
The difficulty with dimpled nipples of any type is that moisture gets
trapped in the folds; soreness is the symptomatic result. If the mom is
able to expose these areas, she might try using a hair dryer on a
low-cool setting and drying the dimpled areas before putting her bra back
on. The dimple ring which you question for this case is meant to
accomplish the same thing, holding the dimpled area open until it dries.
