I can't say specifically about firefighting but there is a mum in my LLL
group who is a flight attendant and returned to work when her baby was
about 10 months old. She is away for 24 to 48 hours. She pumps when she
gets the chance or feels uncomfortably full (and can send the milk back
to her partner on the airline, he picks it up at the airport). She
nurses unrestrictedly when she is at home and has found that things are
working out ok.

As for the hazards, I would think this would fall under Occupational
Health and Safety guidelines. If mum is protected with proper equipment,
wouldn't the risk to baby be minimized?
