There is an excellent article outlining case histories with the use of
cabbage leaves in a 1988 issue of the Australian journal, Breastfeeding Review:

Rosier, W.  Cool cabbage compresses.  Breastfeeding Review, May 1988:12;28-31.

I don't know whether anyone has tried cabbage leaves for infant breast
engorgement, but it sounds like a good idea to me.
