Breastfeeding Awareness Campaign Updates Available Online

The National Breastfeeding Awareness Campaign sponsored by the Department of
Health and Human Services Office on Women's Health (OWH) is scheduled to
launch during World Breastfeeding Week August 2003. The Ad Council will
coordinate the distribution of media materials in the top 210 media markets
across the U.S. In addition, 18 Community Demonstration Projects (CDP)
funded by the OWH will be working with local media to distribute the public
service announcements (PSA).

To facilitate the distribution of media materials to radio and television
stations in those cities that do not have a CDP, the Office on Women's
Health will supply Community Action Kits (campaign materials and public
service announcements) to qualified individuals /organizations. To qualify
for a Kit you must complete a Media Training Session conducted by the OWH.
Among other techniques, you will learn how to communicate with PSA directors
and how to identify yourself as a resource for breastfeeding information.

Media Training Sessions will be held via telephone conference call on June
4, 11, 18, and 25 from 1pm-4pm EST. To register please contact Gina Ciagne
at the Office on Women's Health [log in to unmask]
