Hello dear wise ones,

It's been some time since I actively read and wrote to lactnet. Trying to
catch up now in reading and getting more active. One way to get more active
is to pose a question, which I will do.
A client of mine has had a very hard time with candida in her, her nursling
and her toddler. She has used fluconazole and is still very worried about
any ill effects on her nursling who was around 4 months old when she had a
2 week fluconazole treatment. She has Hale 2002 and understands what he
says, but is still very concerned about ill effects in the long term. What
might be the effects on especially his liver in the long run - if any?
Could someone help me out. I've tried anything to reassure her that it is
very, very unlikely for him to show any ill effect later on, but still. She
already feels guilty now on what might eventuaally happen when he is older
or grown up. How long is fluconazole being used? How long is it being used
in lactating women? In neonates? In premies even? Is it possible at all to
know if there are any ill effects on the long term? I'd love to be able to
once and for all close this search for this worrying mom.

Warmly greeting,
