If it is fine for formula company representatives to drop all this stuff off
at the ob/gyn office (and pediatricians office), then it is fine for
patients to remove it. I strongly recommend surreptitiously removing the
sign-up sheets, the pens, the note pads, the calendars, etc. Bring a big
purse or diaper bag and just take them when no one is looking. I also go
through the magazines in the waiting room and pull out all the pages with
formula ads on them and put them in my purse for disposal later. If there's
an article about infant nutrition or night-time sleep habits, I will write
comments in the magazine if the information is not accurate. I also write
the URL for LLLI and for my own web page. I've been doing this for years.

On a more positive note, I have also been known to leave copies of Marsha
Walker's (Dangers of Formula) and Diane Wiessinger's (Watch Your Language)
essays in various and sundry places -- like the waiting room at the dentist,
or where I get the oil changed on my car, or the laundromat, etc. Anywhere
people are likely to be waiting around bored, willing to read whatever is
lying around.
