Yes, too often such a big concern that parents quickly add ABM. For anyone
needing an idea on how to facilitate parents understanding: during teaching
about how to eval BF, when you get to stool output, give an explanation about
the difference in amount of stool/day between BF and ABM fed, then why the BF
baby has smaller amounts of stool per day(Brmlk very digestable so amounts
lesser than ABM needed for baby to get number of calories needed) and why the
ABM fed baby has larger amounts of stool per day(ABM not as digestable so baby
needs more volume of ABM to get a similar number of calories---> larger
amounts of stool/day). When parents understand digestability differences they
will likely understand and accept the probably somewhat less volume of EM they
may encounter later while pumping, compared to typical volumes of ABM, for a
feeding. Plus as Jan discussed, the calories available/oz of EM may be more
than ABM. I'll have to remember to throw that into the discussion with
parents.

Does that make sense? Don't even in a billyun years in my wildest dreams wanna
no how mini of them thar right-in rules did I obay with that thar
xplanenatorry paragraf abuv.

Seems when I give this info it must make sense to expectant and new parents
because they typically respond with appropriate comments and questions that
indicate understanding.
