YES - and in fact, mothers are being made to feel they are doing something WRONG if they WANT to be with their babies. A mom I just saw today finally told her husband: "PLEASE leave him HERE near me! I know you want to help, but when he is out of sight, I'm not able to rest!"

What a shame mothers are not allowed their own instincts! I wonder if some of the increase in depression that seems to be happening is related to maternal loneliness when babies are removed "so the mom can rest" by well-meaning "friends"...

I don't say that mothers SHOULD feel this way - but rather that many DO feel this way and fear criticism, so they "stuff it"...

I just praised her for speaking up and supported her in acting on her feelings...and that probably her baby was feeling the same way!
