The pump which Jean mentioned was the Whittlestone one, developed in New Zealand by (I think) a dairy scientist with an interest in breastfeeding.  I understand it did have some sort of peristaltic action.  I'm not sure if it is available now.  Perhaps Lactnetters in New Zealand can input on this?
