Thank you Betsy for your wisdom regarding C-Births...it is not always a
choice. I tell newly trained Doulas that I never use the word "naturally"
when describing birth. Like Betsy, I too, must deliver my babies surgically.
There is no choice. I tell the Doulas, I conceived my baby in love, grow
he/she in my belly with love, birth the baby with love the only way I can,
and feed it from my body with love. For me that is as natural as it can get.

Yes, the rate of cesarean births is high, and the reasons for them sometimes
are ridiculous. But sometimes it truly saves the life of the mother and the
baby. I definitely agree the increase of inductions is leading to a rise of
surgical births as well. The birthing reality is, the more interventions of
any kind increases the likely hood of C-Births.

As professionals, we need to keep in mind that some women have no choice how
they deliver, and they need to be praised for their bravery. Surgery when
your awake can indeed be very scary. Look at what they are doing for their
babies!
