This is true if one believes that birth can be only technologically
driven to be successful, and that attending birth is a constant chore as one
must continually scrutinize a mother and baby while the process is going on,
crash cart in hand.
I said nothing about "successful". To me successful is a healthy mother and
baby breastfeeding immediately after delivery, and for a very long time
thereafter. As a neonatologist, I have seen technology save many lives, but is it
always appropriate? No! I simply don't want us to label anyone with a different
view as uniformed or brainwashed.
