Just received a call from mom of 13 mos old (permission to post) who has been
on Biaxin ( clarithromycin) for four days and her baby as of last night is
beginning to balk at breastfeeding. Baby will nurse for a minute or two and
then come off and refuse the breast. Mom was told Biaxin can cause a metallic
taste which she's not experiencing, but wonders if metallic taste occuring in
her milk.

Hale lists azithromycin as an alternative which I suggested to mom; she's
being treated for sinusitis. Anyone have experience with this drug and its
effect on taste of breastmilk?
The usual reasons for nursing strike discussed (infant illness, teething,
thrush, etc) and at this time seem unrelated to child.
