One of my pet peeves is with distinguishing between "humans" on the one hand
and "animals" on the other.  HUMANS ARE ANIMALS!!!!  Sorry, this is one of
my pet peeves, and has nothing to do with the context of the post, or really
with breastfeeding, EXCEPT that I think this artificial (and not
scientifically valid) distinction contributes to the notion that
breastfeeding is "animal-like" and therefore not something "real humans" do.
Breastfeeding has been portrayed by the uninformed as being "backward" and
"primitive" because it is so "animal-like," and therefore not something
"civilized" women do.

And one *friend* (acquaintance) of mine actually complained to me once about
the pumping room at the hospital where she worked in Vermont because all the
women had to sit at the same table to pump (electric pumps bolted to the
table) and the whole thing was "positively bovine."  She thought
breastfeeding was disgusting.

Whew.....where did ALL THAT come from!
