Jack is right (as usual). It is a well-known theory although I don not know
where it comes from except most text books about breastfeeding mention it. I
do not have my text books with me but I am sure Lawrence's and Auerbach and
Riordan's mention this.

I have a problem at the hospital where i work (many...but I am trying to
focus on one at a time to save my sanity). I worte some protocols
mentionning the possibility to use three different alternative feeding
methods: finger-feeding, cup feeding and eye dropper. Nurses do not seem to
agree on using only one type of method per baby per stay. They switch from
one to the other for the same baby during his 48 hour stay. Some of the
staff is getting concerned that they are loosing credibility with the
parents. Does anyone know of any study supporting the use of only one method
or many? Can some of you share your experiences or opinions?
