Hi everyone. I know this has been discussed recently but I couldn't find an
answer to my question. I work in a hospital where we have 5 IBCLC's, 2
full-time, 1 part-time and 2 per diem. 4 are RN/IBCLC's and one IBCLC has a
BS in nutrition. This one non-rn has been an IBCLC the longest- about 11 yrs.
and actually started the Lactation Program on our Maternity unit 11 yrs. ago.
In Dec. all RN's in our hosp. got a raise but we did not because we work as
IBCLC's (however, a couple of us get pulled to help on busy days). Two of our
IBCLC's are upset because they feel they have better assessment skills
because they are RN's and thus should get the raise.. Our manager told us to
do some research, rewrite our job descriptions, possibly adding some kind of
leveling, to prove we should get the raise. I would like to do this in a way
that our one non-IBCLC also gets the raise.
I would like to know if any of you work in a hospital where there are both
RN/IBCLC'S and non/IBCLC's. Do you get paid differently? Do you have
leveling? Please feel free to email me. Personally, I believe all IBCLC's
should be paid the same and at a payscale above RN's. Thanks in advance.
