Should we oppose one particular brand of infant formula? Is there one safe
infant formula? Is that possible? Can we safely feed the human infant
something other than it's mother's milk?

Adding DHA and AA to infant formula is a grand experiment. Infant formula
has always been a grand experiment and with each new experiment some infants
do not survive the experiment and some have their health destroyed. Are we
educating the public by being opposed to one particular brand of infant
formula?

I am surprised that no one has mentioned that DHA and AA are being added to a
variety of infant formulas and preterm infant formulas as well. Neosure has
been mentioned on this list as something preterm infants are given. It now
has DHA and AA added. The DHA and AA are from Martek (who also makes the DHA
and AA for Lipil) see:

The addition of DHA and AA to infant formula seems to be predicated on what
one might call evidence-based financial medicine. The Washington Post
business section in December of 2002 revealed that Martek's revenues tripled
and it has now become one of the few biotech firms that is operating in the
black. Companies who try to imitate human milk components will make enormous
profits, while infants become the guinea pigs of a grand experiment.
