Thanks for your comments publically and privately. I was told be the Jail
supervisor that house arrest or having baby with mom in jail were NOT options.
He requested medical recommendations alternative to these. I outlined criteria
(double electric pump, facilities, having baby with mom at least one hour AT
LEAST three times daily, etc.) and then described all the adverse effects of the
separation on the infant and mom. The baby developed otitis and bronchiolitis
over the two days before mom was set to serve, so I faxed the judge another
letter. I found out today that mom will start HOUSE ARREST tomorrow! Who knows
what it was, but mom was so relieved. The best advice I recieved was from a LLL
liason for our area who urged us to work with "them" on their terms (even when I
wanted to tell the judge his terms were so unreasonable). A small victory.
