Just received a call from a LLL Leader re: a mother who is in Texas ( A
friend.) Delivered yesterday by C section a baby. Father of baby is out of
the picture, has been for a long while, since conception. Father was a
potential IV drug user. HIV status unknown.

Mother's regular pediatrician knew that the mother wanted to breastfeed, and
did not recommend against this. Mother tests HIV NEG. now. Tested NEG also
at conception.

Pediatrician that is standing in for the mother's own pediatrician ( on
vacation) is now recommending that the mother NOT nurse due to possible HIV
exposure.

Help please.

Kathleen
