Dear Chris,

I'm so glad you have posted about this. I have come to realize that skin to
skin is my mantra but NOT standand of care at the hospital where I work. I
really want to change that paradigm and have been in deep thought about
how. I teach, put articles in nurses boxes, role model, write policies.....

Next step for me is to become a certified kangaroo care provider. There is
a conference in Ohio which I will attend and at the end i will get
certified. I am hoping that with this certification and more training I
will get more buy-in from the nurses. I think it will also give ME more
confidence to really "sing my song".

I feel so sad for all our babies so tightly swaddled and left alone in
their bassinets right next to mom's bed. I think that skin-to skin can be
like a vital sign that gets checked several times a shift and that is my
goal.

For those of you who want to learn more about the conference. Contact Kim
Boggs. I have no financial interest.
