An IBCLC colleague has asked me to ask all you wise ones about a woman about
to come into our unit.
43 years old ,1st pregnancy planning elective caesarean. 10 years ago had
melanoma removed from her back ( ah that good ol' aussie sun!) and
completely removed all axillary lymph nodes on right side. Has never had any
problems with lymphedema. Most of pregnancy right breast has been larger
than the left and flushed, the areola a little oedematous and hard. No pain,
warmth, itch or discharge.
Has anyone come across this before? what should we expect? will she have
trouble draining that breast?
Thanks for any ideas
