Hello, I'm a new LLL leader from Chambersburg, PA and have enjoyed reading
the archives of Lactnet. Now I have a situation with a mom here...she
called last night because her ped. gastroenterologist recommended putting
her 6 month old on a predigested formula. Mom began noticing *very small*
amounts of blood w/ mucous in baby's stools a couple of months ago. They
saw the doctor, who suggested cutting out dairy. Mom has scrupulously cut
all dairy for 6 weeks (carefully reading labels) but the blood has
continued. Although the doctor still thinks it's dairy, he recommended the
formula when mom called to update him. Mom is very upset, committed to
breastfeeding, and said she needed to talk it over w/ husband, etc. Of
course, she plans to get a 2nd opinion.

I recall a ped. gastroenterologist being on this list. Can you respond?
The baby's blood tests are all normal, baby is happy and healthy, and
developmentally doing well. Mom says the poops improved in color and
consistency since eliminating milk.
