Catherine Genna had asked for information on the problems of taking seldane &
erythromycin. I posted some information yesterday and have included the rest
today as promised.

The following information is take from the patient package insert for
seldane:

Risks of using Seldane:

In RARE cases Seldane has caused irregular hearbeats which may cause serious
problems like fainting, dizziness, caridac arrest, or death. In these cases,
this occured when Seldane was taken:

--- in more than the recommended dose (do not take more than one tablet every
12 hours)

--- with the antifungal drugs ketoconazole (nizoral) or itracaonzole
(sporanox)

--- with the antibiotic drugs erythromycin, clarithromycin (Biaxin), or
troleandomycin (TAO)

--- by patients with serious liver disease.

it is interesting to note that the nursing information in the insert does not
tell moms to stop nursing while taking seldane -- what it does say is to
speak to your doctor. I know a number of mom's who after their milk supply
was established took seldane on a "as needed basis" (not every single day)
with no apparent side effects for the infant, no matter what their doctor
said.

Nuf said on drugs.

Now for the etc:

I am in private practice (2 other consultants help out also) we have a couple
office locations (about 20% of our consults -- Home visits make up the other
80%) and a number of satillte rental depots as well (7 hoping to work up to
10 -- currently hovering around 100 pumps). I would like very much to hear
(by private e-mail) from others who may be in a similar situation (even if
much smaller).

I am searching for some suggestions on better organization skills, ways to
help cut down the lc burnout i feel coming (i'm sure it's already arrived)
and possibly some different BF & practice promotion ideas (i am really
beginning to feel, that what i've known all along -- most of the "stupid"
docs in my area are at least 5 possibly 10 years behind in how to keep BF
going). This winning the doctors over 1 by 1 is starting to REALLY get me
down after 6 plus years. I'm having a particulary down week.

By the way I am also the mother of 2 very wonderful girls age 4 & 8.

I tease my husband that I have:

2 Kids (real cute & always one step ahead of mom)
2 houses (my mom stays in the second one)
     2 professions (lactation & pharmacy)
and a husband (unfortunatly mostly in that order)

I look forward to your private posts.

Sorry this is so long, good bye for now.
