In support of Barbara Wilson-Clay and other who have crashed headlong with
the Ezzos stuff;

The Prime Directive in breastfeeding is FEED THE BABY. Continue to say it
over and over until you're blue the face, then say it some more. Ask anyone
who touts schedules to list the advantages of ritual starvation. And watch
out for those who believe "if he's hungry enough, he'll learn to suck."
 Caloric deprivation compromises coordinated muscular contraction patterns,
like the baby's SUCK which is accomplished by a muscle. Or actually set of
muscles. If marathon runners are fed in the middle of the race, certainly we
can feed babies who are trying to double their weight in 4 months with a
tummy the size of a golf ball!

The "schedule" advocates should have to personally follow the exact same
eating pattern as they impose on their babies. No between-meals water,
snacks, gum, etc. Bet they'd last about 2 days, max.

Linda Smith, an adult still living with the ghosts of "scheduled feedings"
deeply imprinted on my psyche.
