Hepatitis C is NOT a contraindication to breastfeeding.  Dr. Lawrence has
corrected her book.  Look at her excellent discussion in her Monograph: A
review of the medical benefits and Contraindications to Breastfeeding in the
United States. Oct 1997, US Dept HHS, 1 copy free, Phone (703) 356-1964; FAX
(703) 821-2098.
The WHO, AAP and CDC all state that Hepatitis C is NOT a contraindication to
breastfeeding.
