Channel 9 news (NY City, 10:30 pm) just had a piece on the hazards of
indiscriminate early discharge, and included a segment on a mom who was d/c'd
a day before her infant daughter, who subsequently "forgot how to breastfeed".
The anchorwoman was very emphatic about the harm done by this. "Babies who
are not breastfed have high rates of death, meningitis, etc,etc" She also
stressed mom's risk of breast cancer and ovarian cancer from not
breastfeeding. Finally, one for us!
