Hello everyone,

I am Susan Scheele, mother of three, LLLL, childbirth educator, and 2002
IBCLE candidate. I also direct a bf program in a community health
center in the Boston area.

Thank you for all of the wonderful practical information Lactnet has
provided me thus far.

I have for years been intrigued with the effects of the "LOVE" hormone,
oxytocin on laboring women, breastfeeding, mothering, and intimacy.

The reference for that study is: Taylor, S.E., Klein L.C., Lewis B.P.,
Gruenwald T.L., Gurung R.A.R., and Opdegraff, J.A. (2000) Female
responses to stress: Tend-and befriend not fight-or flight.
Psychological Review, vol 107, no. 3, 411-429
