Hi everyone, A mother I am working with gave permission to tell her
situation. She is a first time mom and has been successfully breastfeeding
for 6 wks. She lately has been having problems with the letting down of her
milk when she breastfeeds on one breast however she doesn't have this
problem when she pumps or when she pumps or breastfeeds on the other breast.
Reasons she knows this is that the baby lately has started to fuss on that
side (does breastfeed 20 minutes if he is willing), she doesn't feel let
downs (she does on the other side), breast still feels full after nursing
and she can pump 2-3oz or a full pumping after nursing. The baby is a good
nurser, she feels he is latched on well and I have observed this, she denies
stress and has tried oxytocin nasal spray and is doing massaging and tried
nipple pulling on the opposite nipple while nursing all without success. Any
other ideas would be appreciated. Thanks, Mary Ann Krainz RN, IBCLC in
central WI
