Dear Lactnetters,
I have a client with whom I am counseling who claims she has Gonorrhea of
the breast and cannot BF. She says this is not the STD Gonorrhea but
rather a rare strain that affects only the breasts. I have never heard of
such, so I asked her if I could research the topic and see what we could
come up with. She claims that this was diagnosed by her OB/Gyn which is
also my OB/Gyn and he happens to be well respected and up to date, but when
I asked his nurse about such a disease, she said she has never heard of
such either. According to my client, this has been traced back to her
great grandfather and it does not respond to antibiotics! Is there any
such thing, or has her imagination simply gotten the best of her (and also
me for even entertaining the idea that this could be real)? Is there
anyone with any info about this or could she have possibly gotten this
confused with some other disease? Sorry to ramble, but I feel like an
idiot.
Jennifer
