If the baby is otherwise well and gaining, there is no problem with not
stooling for 10 days.  The record I am aware of now is 31 days, and that
baby might have gone longer if the mother had not gotten cold feet and given
him a suppository.

The mother doesn't have to go to the pediatric surgeon if she doesn't want
to.  The pediatrician is wrong.  This could very well be normal.  It is also
possible that the baby wasn't eating as much, as you suggested Janet.

The baby is not dehydrated.  We shouldn't use this term so loosely.
Dehydration would result in decreased urine output well before other signs,
including decreased stooling.

"The baby is now fussy at the breast because the mom has not been pumping."

What? What does that mean?
