Valerie,

Ghostwriting I'm familiar with involves a writer being paid to produce a
piece that will carry someone else's name. Most of the offers I've come
across in my work involve the putative "author" or his/her organization
footing the bill. However, I don't disagee your scenario exists as well.
There have been many discussions about writers' ethical responsibility on
this topic on a freelance listserv I receive. The underlying question
usually comes down to some variation of how much one values one's soul.

regards,
Julia
