I'm with Kathy Dettwyler on getting a new doctor. I had a client (now
deceased) whose doctor said: If you weren't breastfeeding, I'd be concerned
that the abnormal cells in this cytology report were suspicious for cancer."
This woman had been to her doctor and a surgeon and lost 3 months of time to
an aggressive carcinoma before seeking a second opinion with a surgeon who
had extensive exper. with lactating breasts and wasn't "distracted" by the
breastfeeding. (MD "distraction" is cited in the malpractice lit. as a
reason for late dx of breast cancer, and preg. and lact. are "distractors").
The woman needs to have an accurate dx now, not in several months.

I also agree with Kathy that the worst prog. would be death. I figure I
have had the good out of my breasts, and would gladly sacrifice them for the
chance to cont. to be with my family and finish my work. Hell, I'd miss my
eyes a lot more! I have had several suspicious findings on mammograms,
which seem to resolve the next time I have a work-up, but that's my
attitude.
