We are working towards Baby Friendly. We have completed our Policy and are in D3. I am wondering if the one policy that is mostly geared towards Mom/Infant is the policy that is used for the whole hospital. "Routinely communicated to all hospital staff". Do any BF hospitals have a more universal breastfeeding policy or is everyone just using the 1? I'm asking because I think certain predominate elements of the policy (WHO code etc) are universal but initiating breastfeeding in the first hour after birth is not something housekeeping is going to do. Is the point that housekeeping, accounting, etc. knows this is what we do? Trying to decide if I need to write a second more universal/ shorter policy. I do have a module developed for all staff to do annually. Thoughts?
Thanks, Mandy Schaub, MS, RD, IBCLC
