Kirsten,

Hi-- Debbie Albert here. I have no major answer for you, just
validation. Although the mother that I worked with had major PMS, and so did
her baby. She received a serious amount of support from her husband during
this period--probably because he did not want to deal with a PMS baby and mom
simultaneously. I, too, would have preferred another alternative, but the
mom decided that she would "pump and dump" to deal with it. She did pump
breastmilk for that time of the month, and she was also working-- so mom was
determined! The baby was also older than 6 months, so a cup was used instead
of a bottle. Mom, dad, and other family members felt that it made a
difference. I am curious to see how many other cases there are out there...

Mom has 8 month old baby, no bottles, only breast and solids. Mom's menses
returned in july, and in august, sept, and oct the baby has had this really
unusual reaction in her body. In the premenstrual PMS 3 - 4 days, baby first
starts to tilt her head to her shoulder slightly, then day by day it gets
more tilted and she gets more fussy and is acting like she hurts. Finally,
after the 3rd or fourth day, baby vomits, sleeps a long time, then wakes up
ok and no more more head tilting! They have checked baby out for neuro
problems and ruled them out. Mom takes nothing for PMS except occaisional
tylenol when her headache gets too bad. (Mom has slight PMS symptoms) Not on
 any contraceptives. No other meds.

All I can figure is that it's something in the milk. I suggested for now
that she could pump during the ok time period and use that milk when the PMS
starts and pump and dump until her period is well underway and her body is
more back to normal(although I hate to do that). Do you have any other
 ideas?????
