I saw the post about the mother with asthma, and am also interested in this
topic. One of the mothers in our Nursing Mothers group is looking for
resources and information on Allergies and Asthma in relation to
breastfeeding. She has severe allergies, both environmental and food ones
(maybe even to millk, although I don't remember exactly), and severe
asthma. Her allergist (when she lived in TX before moving to
Philadelphia) said to exclusively breastfeed for 9 months and then to
continue nursing for 18 months to help protect the baby as much as
possible. (What a great allergist!) She is looking for any books on the
subject to read. Do you all know of any resources she could look into?
She is not questioning the advice of her allergist (she seems pleased by
it) but wants to be informed on the issues and ways to help her baby avoid
the allergies/asthma. Please let me know of any books/articles/resources
you know of on this topic. Thanks!
