Is there any chance this is a communication mixup, and this midwife is
giving mothers advice on how to make a RUBBER nipple flow faster, and
someone has misinterpreted it?

to me.>

I can't conceive of anybody being able to do this to themselves! To even
think of doing it shows just how far we are indictrinated with a bottle
feeding mentality where the nipple is hollow and contains milk.
