I have a mother of a 2.5 month old baby who failed to breastfeed her
first baby due to every complication possible in breastfeeding. She
started off well with this baby until about one month post partum when
she began experiencing deep breast pain on the left breast after feeds.
No history of breast surgery, no mastitis or breast trauma other than
breast binding in the first incidence of weaning. I have only spoken to
her by phone since she has seen 5 LC's including an MD who treated her
unsuccessfully with a course of Diflucan ( which we all understand but
her own physician led her to believe that this was malpractice!), and
until I can offer her a solution I do not want to make her come to Tel
Aviv.
The onset of pain is about 20 -30 minutes after the end of a feed. Her
gynecologist told her that it is the breast refilling and that she
should decrease the milk supply in this breast to relieve the pressure.
I am also thinking in the direction of some scar tissue in that area and
will suggest an ultrasound or mammo in the future.
She reports extreme wall-climbing pain on some days , and minor
discomfort on others. She is very large breasted. No pattern or
predictability.
Any suggestions or similar experiences in your practices?

I have a forum for those of you who have Hebrew speaking patients. They
can also write in English if they do not have Hebrew fonts.
