............. we are looking to re-organize
but are interested in finding a program with a comprehensive focus and
insightful philosophy that we could model our re-organization after. Here
are
some of our  current questions:

1. How many deliveries do you have per year? --->> ~10,700

2. How many LC's do you have on staff? -->> ~10 (a combination of FT, PT,
and PRN, plus a BF specialist/peer counselor/secretary  6 days a week)

3. What is the primary focus of your program? Is your focus preventative
or
problem-oriented?-->> both

Do you see all patients each day?-->>no
Problem- only patients?-->>goal is yes, .....do see any who ask for LC visit
- they just pick up the phone and dial MILK
Do you utilize a referral system for patient contacts?-->>yes, is addition
to above

4.  What is the breastfeeding responsibility of your staff  RN?-->>lots, ie;
education, position, latch, some problem-solving, referral to LC

5. What balance of pt. care and staff education do you seek?-->> seek? I'll
guess 50/50

6. Is your lactation staff as a whole responsible for staff ed. or is it
the
responsibility of a particular LC person?-->> all LCs

7. Do you only see in-pts. or do you have an out-pt. component to your
program?
Who sees those pts.?-->> in and out and all LCs

8.  Do you cover 7 days a week?  Which shifts?-->> 7  days a week, 365
days/yr, 3-4 LCs per day, each 6-10hrs, .....~8am to 5 or 6pm  most days

9. What is the patient load daily for each LC?-->> varies from several to
many

10. Do you have a telephone hot-line for patient questions/ concerns? Who
fields these calls?-->> yes, BF specialist/peer counselor/secretary, and LCs

Any information that you could share would be so helpful. Thank you for any
insight that you can provide. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

hope that helps............................
