Dear Netters,
I am working with a mom that seems to have multiple plugged ducts on both
breasts, they are scattered throughout her breasts on both sides, they
palpate from the size of a pea (closer to her areaola) to the size of a
walnut towards her arm pits. They do change in size and even disapear with
new ones occuring. Mom describes them as feeling tender and sore,
unfortunately she was treated for "double mastitis" (Which I doubt seriously
she had) by an HCP. So of course now she is also dealing with yeast. Her HCP
did give her Diflucan x2 two 5 days apart and Nystatin for her nipples and
oral suspension for baby's mouth. She is 31 primip with no history of lumps
prior to her pregancy, denies any history of fibrocystic breasts. Changes in
her pregancy were from an A to C cup. Baby is growing and nursing well. She
is taking Lethicin for 1 week now 1200 mg capsules. using warm moist
compresses and eating polyunsaturated fats (from Lawerence)I guess in my 14
years lactation experience I have never seen a mom with so many multiple
lumps. They really seem Lactation related but I did advise her to also let
her OB know. She will be seeing him next week for her 6 week check. Any other
thoughts or suggestions would be most welcome.
Thank you
