Greetings from Miles City, Montana.

I am a brand new member of this group. It is exciting to have access to
this sharing resource especially from my location where news and
information generally makes it here by accident.

The situation here is a small, isolated city with a population of
approximately 9000 in S.E. Montana that provides agricultural support and
service to this area. The lactation consultant is now being allowed a role
in prenatal teaching at WIC.

We would like to know if there are accounts of strategies that have worked
to reach teen mothers. Has anyone discovered references advising how to
appeal to this age group and offer the best instructional methods to meet
their stage of development?

We are also interested in simply written pamphlets that would encourage
these mothers to nurse their babies and perhaps offer a model for them with
which they can identify.

Thank you for your consideration.

Noelle Rice RN, OB Staff Nurse
