It could be a slight reflux. And the reaction to milk is difrent, becouse of the difrent consistency of milk (the formula is heavier - stay down better).
They can try to treart it as a reflux for a while. Smaller frequent portions, wait for the air to come up from a stomach (thorough burping), upright position.
