Subject: thrush? need help quickly!!

According to Tom Hale, systemic (ductal) yeast needs treatment with 400 mg
diflucan STAT then 200 mg per day for 28 days or until pain free for 2
weeks, whichever comes last.
Baby needs diflucan 6mg/kg/day loading dose then 3 mg/kg/day for 2 weeks.
Her partner needs diflucan 400 mg STAT then 200 mg per day 28 days.
To keep her yeast at bay once pain free for 2 weeks, mom should take
diflucan 150 mg/week prophylactically.
She should take pain medication as needed - treat the pain.
She should use topical ointment as well: I have found a 3 way mix of 1.
cortisone, 2. Neosporin or bactroban, and 3. clotrimazole in equal amounts
effective. This is applied to nipples after feedings or as little as 4 times
a day, not washed off.
Laundry should be washed in HOT water with the dryer also HOT. Towels should
be changed daily. Use paper towels for hands as much as possible. Plastic
pump parts and nipples and bottles boiled for 20 min daily.
I would prefer this mom breastfeed directly - treat the pain with meds.
Eliminate the plastic stuff that yeast love to colonize.
Mom could take bifidophilus: 2 caps AM and 1 cap PM.
Be careful to wash changing pads, and wash hands after contact with breasts
or milk or rashy areas.
