Well just a quick note on both of these issues. I just wanted to point out that the post about the danger of breech had a point I have a growing problem with:

There was a time when women did die in childbirth..Thank God those stats =
are=20
low now

This is really no longer true - while the US may think this is true for us sadly the rate of women dying after birth is rising from strangely many of the "old" reason infection and bleeding. I personally feel it comes from the increased c-sec (raising infection risks) and induction and augmentation (from over pit'd uterus bleeding after the birth). So no matter what the circumstances there is always risk.

As for Dr. Jay's post on slow gain - this always makes me feel so grateful for our previous Family Physician (he treated my mother for years, me for years then my children). When my daughter was gaining slowly (many on Lactnet know most of this story - she doubled her birth weight at about 18 months of age) he looked at everything before showing any concern. Her milestones, her shiny eyes, healthy skin tone, etc and had that be the big marker not her weight. Plus knowing my mother and I were and had always been thin and being told by my mother how I hardly gained weight as an infant (even when switched to formula) he knew to not worry about 1 marker of health. So it's wonderful to know Dr Gordon is also out there telling people the same thing, since it holds more weight when a doctor says it!
