I agree with Jeanette. I do not personally think there is an increase or
change. In the 30 plus years I have worked with breastfeeding women I have
seen many many tongue ties. In some cases a severe tie caused no difficulty
in others a minor restriction caused huge damage. Personally I married into
a family where tongue tie was common.   My husband and his siblings were not
breastfed  but did have their frenuluum clipped as older children so they
would be able to lick an ice cream cone.

My sons did not have problems nursing but then I came with very adaptable
equipment so we matched well.
