Hi all,
I am due to resit the exam next year, something I just don't think I am
actually going to be able to do. Let me explain my situation. I will be up
for my 5 year recertification. I am a mother of 3 children aged 5,3 and 8
months. My 8 month old has a few medical problems and is also behind on his
milestones. My first child is at school, but the 3 year old is home and
will be next year. I have a private LC practice which is not that busy,
seeing sometimes no one for a few weeks then suddenly 5 a week. My husband
is a busy GP also doing obs and anaesthetics and is call every 2/3 nights
and weekends. I have no family to help me and we live on a farm with no
assistance. I feel that I have no time to study for the exam at this time,
maybe in a year that will be different, but certainly not by July next year.
I don't have enough CERPS as we live in a country town 3 hours from the city
and anyway, all the city BF talks, are on a week night, which makes that
impossible to attend. Perth, the city, has this year missed out on the one
event that could have pushed my CERPS up (the Capers workshop) and so far,
one has not been advertised for next year either. We also miss out on big
conferences, unlike over east. Not every one can attend those events 5-7
hours away. I basically want to continue to practice, am happy enough to
take a year off, is there such a thing as deferring the sitting of the exam
to the following year? Surely this is not such an unusual situation?
