Tom -- what about the option (too late for the mom posted to LactNet) of
postponing the immunizations until her premature baby is 6 months old,
breastfeeding is going well, and the baby can tolerate the virus in the
milk? Wouldn't that be much better than giving formula or donated breast milk?
I thought the big concern over a mom who doesn't have antibodies to
varicella and rubella is for her NEXT pregnancy. Chances are, with a
newborn preemie she was planning to breastfeed, she won't be getting
pregnant again any time soon.
I had rubella vaccinations on the delivery table after all three of my
births, and never have developed any antibodies.
