Please help. I saw a baby on the post-partum floor today. He was 48
hours old and mom felt baby had not had one good feeding. Her breasts
were nicely shaped with protruding nipples. Her second baby and so her
breasts were slightly full. Baby latched well, sucked and screamed. He
was severly tonque tied!!! As always, I pointed this out to mom.
Suggested she talk with her pediatrician and told her about tongue
clipping.
The pediatrician has gone balistic. Wants to involve the CEO of
the hospital, may request we don't see his patients, and so on... I need
all the documented info. ASAP. He may stop in to see me tommorrow. We
have several pedi.s who clip and are very cooperative. This is a real
shock to me and I'm not good with confrontation. Although I could look
at it as an opportunity. If there is anything you know of that I could
pull up on internet tonight I'd be grateful.

Thanks, Dawn BSN, IBCLC
