>SYRACUSE, N.Y. Dec. 19 2002

>A month-old baby with West Nile virus was infected before she was born in the

Of note, the news article (which is a widely-carried Associated Press wire
report) refers to the transmission of WNV via breastmilk, noting "a case of
West Nile in a Michigan infant." In fact the CDC's MMWR report indicated the
infant was found with WNV antibodies, the breastmilk was found with
antibodies and viral fragments, and the infant was/is healthy.
